Installation: metal, 3d plaster print, vinyl, nylon thread, barometer, framed casette cover with

Dario Campeottos original signature, mp3-player, headphones and sound

2013 – 2015

The audio in this installation was made by recording a cut up-version of the essay “The culinary triangle” by anthropologist Claude Lévi-Strauss onto an old cassette tape with love ballads by the Danish musician Dario Campeotto. The text is heard read aloud and when the reading stops the music continues. The text examines culinary traditions and cooking methods such as boiling, roasting and different modes of cannibalism. The Danish songs use an imagery typical of love songs (loosely translated from Danish); “you could walk through fire and water, but you would still be mine no matter what... you are trying to flee from yourself, but love will never leave you alone..” and so a connection between the text and the songs are established; both evoke notes of absorption and consumption – by fire, water or devotion.
